Information on How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

Many of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must avoid them. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this is true. At times, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to consume. There are some foods that basically can raise your moods when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional pick-me-up, test out some of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are fantastic for helping you fight depression. You must make sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. Whenever you want to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Eat an egg and feel a lot better!

Build a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all good for raising your mood. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is known as the “feel good” chemical and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more of this chemical in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Nuts, in addition to improving your mood, can be a great protein source.

Cold water fish are good if you are wanting to feel happier. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly boost your mood.

Some grains are truly wonderful for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly wonderful for helping raise your happiness levels. They help you feel full as well which can truly help to make your mood better. It’s easy to feel low when you feel famished! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest these foods faster than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Your mood can actually be helped by green tea. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is high in a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this particular amino acid can actually stimulate brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel better. And now you know it can help improve your mood also!

So you see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Go with these hints instead!
