Foods That Can Make You Happy
Most of us have been trained to think that comfort foods are terrible and must be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this is true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to eat. A number of foods actually do boost your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try some of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly great at fighting back depression. You should make sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the most important part of the egg in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks particularly, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that control your mood. Eat an egg and feel happier!
Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all great for raising your mood. This is because these nuts are high in magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin levels. Serotonin is known as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more of it you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not just that, nuts, specifically, are a terrific protein food source.
Cold water fish are great if you want to feel better. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can really help you fight back depression.
Some grains are really excellent for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually great for helping boost your happiness levels. They can help you feel full for longer too, helping you feel better. Feeling starved can actually make you feel awful! These grains can improve your mood as it’s easy for your body to digest them. You digest them faster than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.
Green tea is really great for your mood. You just knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is rich in a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this specific amino acid can basically induce brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not hard to be healthy when you drink green tea. Now you are aware that green tea can help raise your mood too!
As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Try a couple of of these hints instead.
