  1. Cut a bit off of the bottom of the oranges. When removing the insides, cutting the bottom makes it more difficult to gouge.
  2. Scoop out the insides with a spoon etc. Be careful not to gouge out!
  3. This is what they look cleanly scooped.
  4. Measure 300 ml of freshly squeezed juice. Make up with 100% juice when there is not enough.
  5. Add powdered kanten to the water. Over medium heat, bring kanten to a boil while stirring, add sugar, and dissolve.
  6. Add the orange juice from Step 4 once kanten liquid has cooled, and mix well.
  7. Place the orange on top of a pudding mold or the equivalent to stabilize.
  8. Gently pour in the kanten liquid from Step 6. It will sink as it solidifies, so it looks prettier when finished if you fill it to the brim.
  9. Let it sit as is until it solidifies a bit, and then chill in the fridge to solidify.
  10. This is what it looks like when it solidifies.
  11. If you cut it into wedges, then you will have orange jello!

Foods That Make Your Mood Better

A lot of us have been trained to think that comfort foods are bad and are to be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to eat. There are several foods that really can improve your moods when you eat them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are great for helping you battle depression. Just see to it that you don’t get rid of the yolk. Every time you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolk especially, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that affect your mood. Consume an egg and be happy!

Build a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because these foods are rich in magnesium, which helps to raise your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that tells the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The higher your serotonin levels, the better you will feel. Nuts, in addition to elevating your mood, can be a great source of protein.

Cold water fish are good if you are wanting to feel happier. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all high in omega-3 fats and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.

Some grains are truly wonderful for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are fantastic at helping you have a happier mood. They help you feel full as well which can truly help to improve your mood. It’s not hard to feel a little bit off when you feel famished! These grains can improve your mood as it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest these grains faster than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Green tea is excellent for moods. You were just expecting to read that here, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in a particular amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have shown that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel better. Now you know green tea can help improve your mood too!

As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you want to feel better! Try several of these instead!
