- Get 2 Squid pieces
- Make ready 1 Onion chopped
- Take 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- Take 2 Green chillies
- Get 1 tsp Snaouf/ perum jeerakam /cumin seeds
- Take 1 Tomato
- Make ready 1 tsp Chilli flakes
- Make ready 3 tsp Red chilli powder
- Take 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Take 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- Take to taste Salt
- Get As needed Oil
- Get 2 tsp Curry leaves
This is my first recipe with squid. Its a traditional koonthal masala recipe with several fresh spices that gives a unique aroma and flavour to this koonthal masala. It goes well with rice,chappathi etc. Koonthal Masala (Squid Pan Fried in Masala).
Instructions to make Squid masala koonthal masala:
- Heat pan and pour some oil.once the oil is hot add the snouf/peeumjeerakam and then add the onion,ginger garlic paste, green chillies and saute.
- Once the onion becomes rose add the chilli flakes,chilli powder,turmeric powder,garam masala etc to it
- Add the tomatoes and saute it then add the squid to the masala and mix well.close the lid and cook for about 15 min.
- Open the lid and mix well and keep it under low flame to remove excess water and make it a thick masala.add curry leaves and serve hot.
It goes well with rice,chappathi etc. Koonthal Masala (Squid Pan Fried in Masala). Add garam masala and curry leaves. Cover and cook in low flame, until squids are cooked through; that is when they turn soft and not rubbery. Masala koonthal (spicy squid masala/calamari masala).
