Try Using Food to Elevate Your Mood
A lot of us believe that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we have to avoid them. At times, if the comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods can be very healthy and good for you. There are a number of foods that basically can boost your moods when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, try a few of these.
Eggs, you may be astonished to learn, are terrific at combating depression. You must make sure, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. Whenever you would like to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you elevate your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–work better. Try eating an egg and jolly up!
Make a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be raised by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that tells the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more you have of it, the happier you will feel. Not just that but nuts, specifically, are a great protein source.
If you wish to battle depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. These are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you overcome your depression.
Some grains are truly excellent for driving away bad moods. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all excellent for helping you be in a happier state of mind. They help you feel full also which can truly help to better your mood. It’s not difficult to feel a little bit off when you feel famished! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. You digest these grains faster than other foods which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.
Your mood could actually be helped by green tea. You just knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is high in a specific amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this particular amino acid can essentially induce brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You probably already knew how easy it is to be healthy when you drink green tea. Now you know that applies to your mood as well!
You can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are terrible for you to feel better! Try some of these tips instead.
