- Make ready 1 tsp coriander, toasted
- Prepare 1 cm kencur
- Prepare 1/4 tsp broth powder (chicken flavor)
- Make ready 1/2 tsp pepper
- Take 1 1/2 tsp salt
- Take SOY SAUCE (mix)
- Prepare 5 tbsp (75 ml) soy sauce
- Take 1 clove garlic (crushed)
- Get 7 red chilis, thinly sliced
- Take 1 pinch salt (to taste)
Fry tempeh in hot oil for awhile, just until the batter cooked through. Lift tempeh from the wok before the batter become dries & crispy; drain them. Wrap tempeh with banana leaf for awhile while they are still piping hot. The leaf will impart a subtle flavor/aroma to the tempeh.
Steps to make Half-fried Tempeh (MENDOAN TEMPE):
- Mix all the ingredients for soy sauce, mix well and set aside.
- Stir flour (wheat + rice + tapioca), water and ground spices. Add beaten egg, scallions and coconut milk.
- Dip tempeh in batter, fry until half-dry (still white - no need to fry until crispy). Remove and drain.
- Serve with soy sauce.
