Try Using Food to Boost Your Mood

A lot of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are not good and should be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be totally nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. There are a number of foods that, when you eat them, could boost your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are terrific for helping you fight depression. You should see to it, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolks particularly, are loaded with B vitamins. B vitamins can genuinely help you improve your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–run better. Eat a few eggs to cheer up!

Make a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. The more you have of it, the happier you will feel. Not only that but nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein source.

If you want to defeat depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all loaded with omega-3 and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can really help you fight your depression.

Grains can be wonderful for driving away a bad mood. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are great at helping you have a happier mood. These foods fill you up better and that can help improve your moods too. Feeling hungry can actually make you feel terrible! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were just expecting to read that, weren’t you? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies show that this specific amino acid can essentially stimulate brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while at the same loosening up the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you be healthier. And now you are aware that green tea can help raise your mood too!
