Try Using Food to Elevate Your Mood
Many of us have been taught to believe that comfort foods are not good and must be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to consume. There are a number of foods that, when you eat them, may better your mood. When you feel a little down and are needing an emotional pick-me-up, try some of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly terrific at dealing with depression. Just be sure that you don’t get rid of the egg yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks especially, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for raising your mood. This is because they help improve the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that control your mood. Try eating an egg and jolly up!
Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all great for improving your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel all the time. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Nuts, on top of raising your mood, can be a great protein source.
Cold water fish are excellent if you want to feel happier. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all high in omega-3 fats and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.
Some grains are really wonderful for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are fantastic at helping you feel happier. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods as well. Feeling hungry can really bring you down! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are not hard for your body to digest and process. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps jumpstart a rise in your blood glucose which in turn takes your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You were just waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid essentially stimulates brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while simultaneously relaxing the rest of your body. You likely already knew how easy it is to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood too!
So you see, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try some of these instead!
